Meet Ruha Vohra
Ruha Vohra was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She grew up speaking Spanish and English fluently. She graduated high school magna cum laude and began working as a leasing agent after graduating.
Ruha was introduced to the apartment industry at the age of 19 and she began her career as a leasing agent. She received her NALP in 2006 while working with Pinnacle Management. Ruha joined The Lynd Company in 2007 as a leasing professional. In 2010, Ruha graduated from the University of Houston-Downtown with a Bachelor of Business Administration. After graduating, she decided to continue working in multifamily and was promoted to an Assistant Community Director. She worked as an assistant for less than two years and was then promoted to a community director for Shadow Ridge Apartments, a 260 unit tax credit community. Ruha worked a total of six years at Shadow Ridge. Ruha received her CAM designation in 2016. She worked for The Lynd Company for over ten years. During her ten years with The Lynd Company, she received numerous honors and recognitions for exceeding expectations. She was awarded Top Tax Credit Property Award and Outstanding Achievement in Collections Award.
In 2018, Ruha was ready for a new challenge. She was offered a position with Veritas Equity Management, a well known owner-managed company in Houston. Westchase Creek was a new acquisition and she was given the challenge of a huge 456 unit property from day one. This property was very challenging with many obstacles throughout the journey. Performing a one million dollar renovation, a $303K water conservation project, unexpected foundation repairs were some of the hurdles that she led her team through. The first year was a tough one for sure but that did not discourage Ruha from joining various HAA committees and fulfilling her commitments. She was always a member of HAA, but with the support of Veritas, she flourished in her involvement with the association.
In 2019, a year after acquisition, Ruha and her team surpassed income, delinquency, and occupancy goals set for her property. Her team was recognized by John Boriack, President of Veritas, and Jackie Aguirre, VP of Operations. In 2019, Ruha applied and was selected to join the HAA 2020 Leadership Lyceum Program. This was a year long program and she was recognized at the 2020 HAA Honors Awards for her completion. She also continued to be a member of the HAA Next, Resident Relations, Community Outreach, and Co-Captain for the Go-Getters Committee. In March 2020, her property suffered a raging fire that affected six units and needed a roof replacement. In the midst of a global pandemic, she and her team faced troubling times but managed to overcome all obstacles that came forth.
Ruha was awarded Property Manager of the Year from the Houston Apartment Association in 2020. Her Maintenance Supervisor, Roberto Guzman, also won the Texas Apartment Association’s 2020 Mary Williams Maintenance Professional of the Year. Ruha was appointed Co-Chair for HAA Next Gen Committee for the 2021-2022 term.
